Are you a Registered Mental Health Nurse looking for a rewarding role in forensic community services? We have an exciting locum opportunity within a specialist forensic service based in Surrey.

Job Title: Band 6 Community Forensic Practitioner
Location: Surrey (bases in Chertsey & Dorking)
Duration: 3–6 months ongoing
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 9am–5pm
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: £25 – £27 (must have CPN experience)

What You’ll Be Doing:

Join our specialist forensic team and play a vital role in supporting people with complex mental health needs who have offended or are at risk of offending. In this role, you will:

  • Carry a mixed caseload of community clients and those in supported placements

  • Undertake mental health assessments at police stations and magistrates’ courts

  • Liaise with and advise the criminal justice system, including police, lawyers, CPS, and probation

  • Deliver high-quality assessments and contribute to individual treatment plans

  • Act as Care Coordinator, ensuring timely and effective interventions

  • Work in collaboration with mainstream psychiatric services to support complex clients

  • Administer depot medication and provide nursing interventions where required


Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • NMC Registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)

  • Experience in forensic or community mental health services

  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and its application in forensic care

  • Strong communication and multidisciplinary liaison skills

  • Ability to work flexibly across service bases (Chertsey and Dorking)

  • Car driver (valid driving licence)


Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role, 9am–5pm. The initial contract is 3–6 months with a strong likelihood of extension based on service needs.
