Location: York
Contract Length: Ongoing / Initial 12 weeks
Hours: Full-time
Service: CAMHS Crisis Team
Start: ASAP
Rates:

  • £26 per hour – Long Days (07:45–20:00)

  • £31 per hour – Nights (19:45–08:00)

  • £36 per hour – Sundays / Bank Holidays

We are working with a well-established Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service in York to recruit an experienced Band 6 CAMHS Crisis Practitioner. This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist crisis service supporting children and young people presenting in acute mental health distress.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Undertaking urgent mental health assessments for children and young people in crisis

  • Providing risk assessment, formulation and crisis intervention

  • Working closely with families, carers and multi-disciplinary professionals

  • Contributing to safety planning and short-term crisis management

  • Supporting decision-making around admissions and community alternatives

  • Maintaining clear, timely clinical documentation

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist

  • Current professional registration

  • Proven experience working within CAMHS

  • Experience in crisis, urgent or acute mental health settings

  • Confident in risk assessment and crisis management

  • Ability to work autonomously within a multi-disciplinary team

Working Hours & Contract Details

  • Full-time hours

  • Long days: 07:45–20:00

  • Nights: 19:45–08:00

  • Rota-based shifts (may include evenings and weekends)

  • Initial contract with strong likelihood of extension
