JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Community Psychiatric Nurse (CPN) – Band 6
Location: Ayrshire
Band: Band 6
Rate: £34.00PH 
Working Pattern: Full-time (Mon-Fri, 9-5)
Contract Duration: 3-6 months ongoing
Team: Older Adult Community Mental Health Team
Start Date: ASAP – 4 weeks


What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Assess, plan, deliver, and evaluate mental health interventions for older adults with complex mental health and social care needs.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including GPs, allied health professionals, and care homes.
  • Manage a defined caseload, under supervision from the Community Psychiatric Charge Nurse.
  • Supervise junior staff and participate in the coordination of care.
  • Provide evidence-based care and make decisions regarding patient care plans.

Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
  • Full driving license.
  • Experience working with the older adult population.
  • Evidence of Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices.

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

  • 37.5 hours per week (Mon-Fri, 9-5).
  • 3-6 months ongoing contract, starting ASAP.

Role Overview:

The post holder will be part of the Older Adult Community Mental Health Team, delivering high-quality mental health care in Ayrshire. The role involves assessing and managing patients with complex mental health and social care needs, providing specialist nursing interventions, and working closely with social care and voluntary organizations. You will also be required to manage risk, support hospital discharges, and contribute to service development.

As part of the multidisciplinary team, you will work in various settings, including patients’ homes, clinics, and community spaces, ensuring comprehensive and coordinated care.
