Locum Psychologist (Band 7/8a) – High-Pay Role in Somerset

Role Overview:

This is an autonomous role within a multidisciplinary team (MDT), providing psychological interventions and formulations to patients within Somerset’s inpatient and community mental health rehabilitation pathway. The service does not currently have other psychology provision, so the postholder must be confident in working independently within the wider MDT.

Key Responsibilities:

✔ Delivering specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and interventions to patients
✔ Supporting the rehabilitation of individuals with complex mental health conditions
✔ Providing consultation and guidance to the wider MDT
✔ Working collaboratively with psychiatrists, nurses, OTs, and other professionals
✔ Maintaining detailed clinical records in line with compliance standards

Requirements & Qualifications:

✔ HCPC-registered Psychologist (Clinical or Counselling)
✔ Experience in mental health rehabilitation settings
✔ Ability to work autonomously and make informed clinical decisions
✔ Strong skills in psychological assessment, formulation, and evidence-based interventions
✔ Confidence in liaising with multidisciplinary teams
