Band 6 – £26.00 p/h
Community Mental Health Team
3–6 Month Locum Contract (with view to extend)
Full-time, Monday to Friday (no weekends or nights)
Start: ASAP


What You’ll Be Doing:

You’ll be working as part of a dedicated CAMHS Urgent Care team in Birmingham, supporting children and young people presenting in crisis. This is a fast-paced service offering rapid assessment, risk management, and brief therapeutic intervention. You will work closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure safe, timely, and effective care planning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Triage, assess, and manage referrals of children and adolescents in mental health crisis

  • Conduct risk assessments and deliver short-term therapeutic interventions

  • Liaise with acute and community teams, social services, and families

  • Formulate care plans and provide safety planning in urgent care settings

  • Contribute to MDT discussions and escalate concerns appropriately

Requirements:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN), Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist

  • CAMHS and/or Crisis/Urgent Care experience essential

  • Proven skills in risk assessment and crisis intervention

  • Excellent communication and multi-agency working skills

  • Valid NMC/HCPC registration

  • Access to own vehicle preferred

Working Hours & Duration:

  • Monday to Friday

  • Full-time (9am–5pm preferred)

  • 3-month rolling contract, likely to extend

  • Hybrid working may be considered
