What You’ll Be Doing

As a Mental Health Unscheduled Care Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in providing specialist multi-disciplinary mental health services across North, South, and East Ayrshire. You will respond to individuals presenting with mental health and addiction-related issues through emergency service pathways, inpatient wards, and general hospital settings.

Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments and risk evaluations
• Offering clinical advice and intervention to ensure patient safety and well-being
• Liaising with emergency services, inpatient wards, and external agencies
• Facilitating hospital admissions and coordinating referrals to appropriate services
• Leading and mentoring junior staff and contributing to service development

Requirements & Qualifications

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification
• Experience working with acute mental health presentations and crisis intervention
• Strong risk assessment, clinical decision-making, and leadership skills
• Ability to work autonomously and within a multidisciplinary team
• Knowledge of addiction and mental health treatment pathways
• Full UK driving license required

Working Hours & Contract Duration

• Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)
• Start Date: ASAP – 4 weeks
• Contract: 3-6 months ongoing
