Band 6 Social Worker – Orkney Islands Council – £38.00PH – Accommodation & Travel Support Included

Hunter Mental Health are supporting Orkney Islands Council with a Band 6 Social Worker vacancy based on the stunning Orkney Islands.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take on a fully supported relocation contract in a scenic and community-focused location, with extensive expenses covered for eligible workers.


What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering frontline statutory social work services as part of Orkney Islands Council’s Social Work team

  • Working with adults, families, or children depending on experience and service needs

  • Supporting service users through care planning, risk assessment, and safeguarding practices

  • Engaging with local services, carers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred interventions

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with council policies and legislation


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Qualified Social Worker with valid registration

  • Previous statutory social work experience essential

  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively

  • Flexibility to work full-time hours onsite in Orkney (minimum 3 weeks onsite per month if extended beyond 3 months)

  • Must be available to start on or near 28 July 2025


Working Hours & Contract Duration

  • Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm (full-time)

  • Start date: 28 July 2025 (or as close as possible)

  • Contract duration: 3 months initially, with review for extension

  • Rate: £38.00PH

  • Location: Orkney Islands, Scotland
