Job Title: Associate Director of People & Culture – Band 8C
Location: South Gloucestershire
Duration: 6 months
Schedule: Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week (minimum 2 days per week on site)
Start Date: ASAP
Salary Range: £75,000 – £85,000+ per annum (pro rata)

What You’ll Be Doing

We’re recruiting for an experienced Associate Director of People & Culture to take on a strategic leadership role within a public sector organisation in South Gloucestershire. This position plays a key part in shaping inclusive, high-performing people practices and supporting executive-level workforce development.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the HR and EDI functions to deliver cultural transformation and people outcomes

  • Embed Just and Learning Culture values across the organisation

  • Coach and support managers to be confident, empowered leaders

  • Improve staff experience through engagement, development, and wellbeing initiatives

  • Influence system-wide leadership by sharing innovation and best practice


Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Level 7 CIPD qualification or equivalent experience

  • Extensive senior HR leadership experience, ideally within the public or healthcare sector

  • Deep understanding of workforce planning, EDI, and organisational development

  • Strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills

  • Experience influencing culture and people policy at board level


Working Hours & Contract Duration

This is a full-time role (37.5 hours/week), Monday to Friday. Hybrid working is available, with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite. The role is offered on a 6-month locum contract with strong potential for extension.
