Children & Families Social Worker – North Devon – Up to £40.00ph

Location: North Devon
Job Title: Social Worker – Children & Families
Rate: Up to £40.00 per hour
Working Pattern: Full-time, Monday to Friday (37 hours per week)
Team: Children & Families

We are seeking experienced social workers to support our children and young people in North Devon. This is a fantastic opportunity to build meaningful and positive relationships with children, young people, and families—working closely with them to achieve outcomes that are family-led, strengths-based, and focused on safety and stability.

This Local Authority is currently working under an Ofsted Improvement Plan, so we are specifically looking for experienced, robust social workers with a strong track record of good practice who can model and share their expertise across the service.


What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be part of a Children & Families team, managing a varied caseload including:

  • Child-in-Need and Child Protection

  • Legal proceedings and Looked After Children

  • Working creatively with families to promote positive change within the home environment

Our North Devon teams include a strong mix of Social Workers, ASYEs, Family Practitioners, Team Managers, and Advanced Social Workers. You’ll be part of a supportive and dynamic team structure.

To enhance service delivery:

  • 3 Specialist Practitioners support with specialist assessments (Reg 24s, Viability Assessments, Pre-birth & Parenting Assessments)

  • Family Practitioners assist with intervention and direct work with children


Requirements & Qualifications

  • Social Work qualification and registration with SWE

  • Substantial post-qualifying experience in statutory children’s services

  • Strong court work experience and familiarity with CIN/CP/Looked After processes

  • Ability to model good practice and support less experienced colleagues

  • Own transport is essential


Working Hours & Contract Duration

  • Start Date: ASAP – 4 weeks

  • Contract Length: 3–6 months ongoing

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 37 hours per week
