Contract Duration: 3 months (with potential for review)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Interim Team Manager to lead and develop the Fostering, Adoption, Kinship, and Through Care After Care services within Orkney Health and Care. This role requires a strong leader who can drive service improvement, manage budgets, and support the strategic direction of the service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop core service delivery to ensure high standards and continuous improvement.
  • Support the Service Manager in strategic decision-making and service planning.
  • Manage and support a team of social workers, ensuring high performance and professional development.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to enhance service outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policies, regulations, and safeguarding requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualifications: Degree or Postgraduate qualification in Social Work, registered (or eligible for registration) with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).
  • Experience: Significant management experience in children’s services, particularly in fostering, adoption, kinship care, and aftercare.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and team management.
    • Budget management and service planning.
    • Effective communication and stakeholder engagement.
    • Ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement.

Additional Information

  • PVG Scheme Membership required for regulated work with children.
  • Ability to travel within Orkney as needed.
  • Hybrid working available (3 weeks in Orkney, 1 week remote – negotiable with the Service Manager).
  • Support with travel and accommodation may be available for candidates based outside mainland Orkney.
