Senior Practitioner – Acute Mental Health Services (Band 6)
Location: North East Lincolnshire
Salary: £38,682 – £46,580 per annum (Band 6, NHS Agenda for Change)
Working Pattern: 08:00 – 20:30, 20:30 – 08:00, or 18:00 – 06:30 (full-time, shift-based)
Contract: Permanent
Relocation Package: Up to £4,000 available

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Practitioner within the Acute Mental Health Service, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care to service users experiencing acute mental health difficulties. You will:

  • Act as Care Coordinator, managing a caseload from first contact through to discharge.

  • Carry out thorough assessments and implement evidence-based treatment plans across a range of settings (community, A&E, general hospital, and police stations).

  • Lead on admissions and discharges, working autonomously while ensuring safe and effective decision-making.

  • Provide crisis intervention and develop clear care pathways to support relapse prevention and recovery.

  • Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to create care packages that minimise hospital admissions and support early discharge.

  • Supervise and support Band 5 staff and contribute to the ongoing development of the Acute Mental Health Service.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) or Social Worker.

  • Minimum of three years post-registration experience, including at least one year in a senior or leadership role.

  • Proven experience assessing and managing complex mental health conditions, including crisis situations, risk assessment, and care planning.

  • Strong understanding of psychosocial interventions and ability to implement evidence-based treatments.

  • Experience working with clients with severe and enduring mental health issues.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and liaison skills with clients, families, and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Ability to prioritise workloads, make autonomous decisions, and manage a caseload effectively.

  • Commitment to providing high-quality, person-centred care in a flexible, responsive manner.

  • Experience in supervising and supporting junior staff and contributing to team development.

  • Knowledge of mental health legislation, safeguarding, and clinical governance principles.

Working Hours & Contract Duration

  • Contract Type: Permanent

  • Shift Patterns: 08:00 – 20:30, 20:30 – 08:00, or 18:00 – 06:30, covering 7 days per week.
