ADHD prescribing and medication management training for qualified prescribers

ABOUT THIS TRAINING

A structured, clinically grounded course for qualified independent prescribers who want to build real confidence in ADHD medication management.

Demand for ADHD services is rising faster than the prescribing workforce can keep up with – across primary care, community services and independent providers. Many prescribers are being asked to support ADHD patients without having had structured training in the medications, titration principles or monitoring frameworks involved.

This course is built to close that gap. It is practical, case-based, and delivered by experienced ADHD specialist nurse practitioners who prescribe and supervise in this area every week.

It is a clinical upskilling programme – not a prescribing qualification.

Who is this training for?

Qualified independent prescribers

Pharmacist prescribers

Nurse prescribers working in GP, community or specialist settings

Clinicians moving into ADHD medication management as part of a wider role

Typical participants are already prescribing in other areas and want to extend their scope into ADHD with the right clinical foundation behind them.

Who is this training not for?

  • Clinicians who are not yet qualified prescribers
  • Those currently undertaking prescribing training
  • Anyone looking for a formal prescribing qualification – this course does not provide one

If you are earlier in your prescribing journey, this isn’t the right step yet, and we’d rather tell you that up front.

What the training covers:

The course works through the clinical territory a prescriber actually has to navigate when managing ADHD patients:

  • ADHD medication types and mechanisms of action
  • Prescribing considerations and safety
  • Initiation and titration principles
  • Monitoring and follow-up
  • Recognising and managing side effects
  • Clinical decision-making in ADHD care
  • Care pathways and service delivery models

Teaching is case-based and discussion-led. You'll work through the kinds of decisions that come up in real clinics - not just textbook scenarios.

FORMAT OF THE TRAINING

  • Delivery: Live, interactive sessions led by experienced ADHD clinicians
  • Style: Case-based, discussion-led, small enough for genuine interaction
  • Price: £800 (inclusive of VAT)
  • Dates: Confirmed at the point of booking
  • Includes: Teaching materials, peer network access, and an official CPD Certificate of Attendance

CPD ACCREDITATION

This training is delivered by an official CPD Standards Office Accredited Provider (Provider No. 22915). All learning is independently assessed against CPD Standards Office requirements.

On completion you’ll receive a CPD Certificate of Attendance suitable for:

  • Professional portfolios
  • Revalidation and appraisal
  • Submission to employers and regulatory bodies

CAREER & PROGRESSION

Completing this training puts you in a stronger position to:

  • Update your CV and professional profile to reflect ADHD training
  • Demonstrate upskilling in ADHD medication management to current and future employers
  • Apply for roles within NHS services, private ADHD providers, and community or primary care settings
  • Begin building experience as part of a wider ADHD clinical pathway

You’ll also get access to an active peer network of clinicians working in this space, which is often where the most useful ongoing learning happens.

We’re straight about the limits, though: this course does not guarantee employment, locum work, or immediate role progression. It gives you the clinical foundation and the CPD evidence – what you do with it is up to you.

What you'll take away

By the end of the course, participants will:

Understand ADHD pharmacology in clinical depth

Apply principles of safe titration and ongoing monitoring

Feel more confident in medication decision-making

Be better prepared to work within ADHD services

Have CPD evidence of ADHD training for CVs and professional development records

CLINICAL GOVERNANCE AND STANDARDS

The training is aligned with recognised UK clinical standards, including:

  • NICE guidelines for ADHD assessment and management
  • DSM-5 diagnostic framework (where relevant to clinical understanding)
  • The NMC Code and professional standards for prescribing

Participants are expected to work within their own scope of practice, apply learning in line with local policies, and remain accountable for individual clinical decisions. This training supports safe, informed practice – it doesn’t replace formal supervision or your organisation’s governance framework.
