Band 6 RMN – Prison Nurse – Gloucester

Hunter Gatherer Mental Health are recruiting for a Band 6 RMN Prison Nurse job in Gloucester, supporting mental health services within a secure HMP setting.

This is a locum prison nursing role offering consistent weekday hours, a structured environment, and the opportunity to work within a well-established healthcare team.

Role details

• Band 6 RMN – Prison Nurse
• Location: Gloucester
• Contract: 3 months (with potential extension)
• Start date: ASAP
• Hours: 37.5 hours per week
• Working pattern: Monday to Friday

Key responsibilities

• Deliver mental health care within a secure prison environment
• Support assessments, care planning and ongoing clinical management
• Work within a multidisciplinary team including primary care and custodial staff
• Manage risk and support complex mental health presentations
• Maintain accurate clinical records and ensure compliance with governance standards

Requirements

• Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN)
• Previous prison or secure setting experience preferred
• Active prison clearance (or willingness to undergo clearance)
• Strong risk assessment and safeguarding experience
• Ability to work independently within a structured environment
