Expert Social Worker – Court & Permanence Assessments

Birmingham (Hybrid)
£36–£40 per hour

We are recruiting an experienced Children’s Social Worker to undertake specialist, court-directed assessments within a Birmingham-based service.

This is not a standard duty or safeguarding role. We are seeking a highly skilled practitioner with strong court experience to complete expert pieces of work relating to permanence planning and order revocation.

The Role

You will undertake:

  • Revocation of Placement Order assessments (adoption cases)

  • Discharge of Care Order assessments

  • Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments

  • Complex risk and permanence analysis

  • High-quality, analytical court report writing

  • Court attendance and expert evidence where required

This role requires confidence, independence and the ability to deliver defensible, evidence-based recommendations within court-directed timescales.

About You

  • Qualified Social Worker with active Social Work England registration

  • Significant experience in Children’s Services

  • Strong court work background

  • Experience completing SGO and/or adoption-related assessments

  • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills

  • Confident giving evidence in court
