Locum Drug Diversion Recovery Worker – Oxfordshire

Are you passionate about giving young people a second chance? We’re looking for an experienced Drug Diversion Recovery Worker to join a county-wide service in Oxfordshire, helping young people avoid criminal convictions by supporting them into positive change.

Location: Oxfordshire (based from your nearest hub)
Rate of Pay: £19 – £21 per hour
Start Date: 2–3 weeks (to allow for equipment setup)
Working Hours: Part-time – 3 days per week, between 8:00am – 6:00pm
Contract: Locum, ongoing

The Role:
You’ll work with young people referred through the police drug diversion scheme, providing harm reduction advice, brief interventions, and pathways into treatment. This role is about prevention – supporting young people to make better choices and avoid a criminal record. Clients come from a mix of backgrounds, from affluent communities to more disadvantaged areas, but this is a non-violent and generally safe role.

✨ A Day in the Life:

  • Engaging young people referred by the police following a drug-related incident.

  • Delivering a mix of face-to-face and online support sessions.

  • Providing harm reduction education and signposting to treatment services.

  • Building trust and rapport with young people from diverse social backgrounds.

  • Collaborating with criminal justice partners, schools, and community organisations.

  • Maintaining accurate and secure records in line with data protection standards.

✅ Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in a drug & alcohol and/or criminal justice setting.

  • Skilled in harm reduction approaches and early intervention work.

  • Tech-savvy, with the ability to work flexibly between online and in-person support.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to travel across Oxfordshire to meet clients at local hubs or community settings.
