  • Oversee admissions, transitions and discharges, ensuring appropriate care planning and risk management.

  • Lead the implementation and monitoring of risk assessments and clinical governance.

  • Ensure the service operates in accordance with CQC standards, the Mental Health Act, safeguarding requirements and relevant legislation.

  • Monitor staff performance and ensure appropriate supervision, appraisals, training and professional development are in place.

  • Oversee recruitment, retention and workforce planning.

  • Manage staffing levels, staffing mix and associated costs effectively.

  • Monitor and manage budgets and resources in conjunction with senior management.

  • Review incidents, accidents and infection control procedures and ensure appropriate action is taken.

  • Work closely with families, commissioners, NHS services and external agencies.

  • Develop strong working relationships with the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Promote positive and non-aversive approaches to managing behaviours that challenge.

  • Ensure residents are supported with dignity, choice, independence and respect.

  • Maintain accurate clinical, operational and personnel records.

  • Support audits and quality improvement initiatives across the service.

  • Ensure health and safety, fire safety and emergency procedures are appropriately managed.

  • Promote a positive culture across the service and provide visible, supportive leadership.

  • Participate in on-call duties where required.
