We have an excellent opportunity with a leading NHS Trust in Lewisham, offering full-time hours, an ongoing contract and the chance to support children and young people with a range of mental health and neurodevelopmental needs.

Job Title: Band 6 CAMHS Mental Health Practitioner
Location: Lewisham, South London
Duration: Ongoing Contract
Schedule: 37.5 Hours Per Week | Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Start Date: ASAP
Rate of Pay: £27 per hour

What You'll Be Doing:

Join a generic CAMHS team supporting a caseload of children and young people through assessment, intervention and ongoing mental health support. In this role, you will:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people within a generic CAMHS setting
  • Complete comprehensive initial CAMHS assessments
  • Provide appropriate therapeutic interventions and support based on individual clinical needs
  • Deliver interventions such as CBT, IPT-A and Art Therapy, where appropriately qualified
  • Complete clinical risk assessments and contribute to effective care planning
  • Support children and young people presenting with a range of complex mental health needs
  • Apply your knowledge and experience of ADHD assessment
  • Participate in the team duty rota approximately twice per month, with additional duty shifts where required
  • Attend and contribute to MDT meetings
  • Provide clinical support and guidance to colleagues within the team
  • Work collaboratively with families, carers and wider professionals involved in a young person's care
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation
  • Work in line with relevant CAMHS policies, clinical governance and safeguarding requirements

Requirements & Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Current and valid professional registration relevant to your clinical discipline
  • Significant previous CAMHS experience
  • Experience working within a generic CAMHS team
  • Strong experience completing initial assessments
  • Experience providing interventions to children and young people with mental health needs
  • Demonstrable ADHD assessment skills and knowledge
  • Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to manage a clinical caseload independently
  • Strong communication and clinical risk assessment skills
  • Confidence providing support and guidance to colleagues
  • Willingness to participate in the CAMHS duty rota
  • Experience working with children, young people and families presenting with complex mental health needs

Working Hours & Contract Duration:

This role offers 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm, with an ongoing contract and an ASAP start.

The successful candidate will also be required to participate in the team's duty rota approximately twice per month, with additional duty shifts depending on service requirements.
