You will play a key role in establishing and delivering a new ADHD medication pathway, initially supporting the development of the service before taking clinical ownership of day-to-day prescribing and titration.
In this role, you will:
• Independently initiate and titrate ADHD medication across children, young people and adults
• Prescribe and manage both stimulant and non-stimulant medication
• Conduct initial medication consultations and routine titration reviews
• Monitor medication response, side effects and physical observations
• Manage medication queries and communicate effectively with patients, parents and carers
• Support shared-care arrangements and ongoing medication management
• Make appropriate independent escalation, referral and clinical risk decisions
• Contribute to the development of prescribing, monitoring, medicines governance and escalation processes
• Provide clinical input into the service’s CQC application and pre-launch preparation
• Help establish safe and effective clinical pathways and protocols
• Provide clinical leadership and guidance around the medication service
• Review existing ADHD diagnostic reports and ensure prescribing is aligned with NICE guidance
• Contribute to service development as the ADHD medication pathway grows
To be successful in this role, you will need:
• Current professional registration and V300 Independent Prescribing qualification
• Substantial autonomous ADHD prescribing and titration experience
• Experience prescribing across children, young people and adults
• Experience initiating and titrating both stimulant and non-stimulant medication
• Controlled-drug prescribing experience
• Strong understanding of physical monitoring, side-effect management and medication safety
• Experience with shared-care arrangements
• Confidence making independent clinical escalation and referral decisions
• Strong understanding of NICE-compliant ADHD practice
• Excellent clinical judgement and communication skills
• Previous clinical leadership, governance or ADHD pathway development experience would be highly desirable
ADHD assessment experience is advantageous but not essential, as diagnostic assessments are already undertaken by an established MDT.
This is a flexible associate opportunity, initially with a relatively small caseload while the service is established, with significant scope for the role to grow.
Initial appointments are expected to include:
• 45-minute initial medication consultations
• 20-minute routine titration reviews
• Longer appointments where clinically required
• Paid clinical administration, prescribing, medication queries, patient/parent communication and agreed service-development work
Fully remote working will be considered, with the successful clinician also helping to determine appropriate arrangements for physical observations and monitoring.
You will be joining an established and highly experienced multidisciplinary neurodevelopmental team already undertaking approximately 25 autism, ADHD and combined assessments each month.
Although the medication service will initially start at a low volume, there is significant potential for growth as existing assessment clients progress into the medication pathway.
