Band 7 Mental Health Practitioner – Tandridge GP Surgeries – Non Caseload

Location: Caterham, Surrey
Pay Rate: £30–£32 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm
Contract: Full-time locum position

Hunter Mental Health is currently recruiting a Band 7 Mental Health Practitioner to support Tandridge GP surgeries in Caterham, Surrey.

The successful practitioner will play a key role in the development and mobilisation of integrated primary care mental health services across local GP networks. The role will focus on providing timely mental health assessments, evidence-based interventions and coordinated support for adults with serious mental illness.

Key responsibilities:

  • Complete comprehensive mental health, risk and psychosocial assessments.
  • Provide early intervention and evidence-based mental health support within primary care.
  • Manage a defined caseload of patients with complex or serious mental health needs.
  • Develop collaborative, person-centred care and risk-management plans.
  • Work closely with GPs, primary care teams and community mental health services.
  • Support effective referrals and transitions between primary care, secondary care and voluntary-sector services.
  • Promote recovery, social inclusion and access to appropriate community support.
  • Provide clinical advice and guidance to GP practice staff.
  • Identify and respond appropriately to safeguarding and risk concerns.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation.
  • Contribute to the development and mobilisation of the integrated primary care mental health pathway.

Requirements:

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist or Social Worker with current professional registration.
  • Previous experience working at Band 7 level or in a senior mental health practitioner position.
  • Strong experience completing mental health and risk assessments.
  • Community mental health or primary care mental health experience.
  • Sound knowledge of safeguarding, the Mental Health Act and the Mental Capacity Act.
  • Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively to a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication, care coordination and clinical decision-making skills.
