Head of Safeguarding (Band 8b) – Gloucestershire – £42ph – £44ph

Hunter Gatherer Mental Health are supporting a Trust in Gloucestershire with a requirement for an experienced Head of Safeguarding to provide strategic and operational leadership across safeguarding services.

This is a senior opportunity to lead safeguarding delivery across adults and children’s services, ensuring compliance, quality, and effective multi-agency working across the organisation.

Role: Head of Safeguarding
Rate: £44 per hour
Location: Gloucestershire (Countywide)
Contract: Ongoing
Hours: Full-time

The role
You will be responsible for leading the Trust’s safeguarding function, providing expert advice, overseeing governance, and ensuring high standards of safeguarding practice are maintained across all services.

Key responsibilities include:

• Leading and managing safeguarding services across adults and children
• Acting as the Trust’s point of contact for safeguarding matters
• Representing the Trust at safeguarding boards, MASH, MAPPA and external forums
• Overseeing safeguarding compliance, audits, and risk management
• Producing high-level reports for senior leadership and Trust Board
• Leading safeguarding training and development programmes
• Driving continuous improvement across safeguarding services

Requirements

• Registered Nurse or Health/Social Care Professional
• Significant safeguarding experience (5+ years)
• Proven leadership experience within safeguarding
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation (Care Act, Children Act, MCA)
• Experience working at a strategic / system level
• Ability to lead multi-agency working effectively
