Registered Nurse – Addiction and Mental Health Service

Location: Near West Linton, Scottish Borders
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Shift pattern: Three 12.5-hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends
Rate: £18.95 per hour, plus 20% enhancement for nights and weekends
Vacancies: Two permanent positions

We are recruiting two compassionate and experienced Registered Nurses to join a leading residential addiction and mental health treatment service in the Scottish Borders.

The service provides an established abstinence-based treatment programme for people experiencing alcohol and drug addiction, alongside associated mental health conditions. You will work within a supportive multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, person-centred care throughout admission, detoxification, treatment and discharge.

Key responsibilities

  • Assess patients’ care needs and develop, implement and review individual care plans
  • Monitor and support patients undergoing detoxification
  • Safely manage and administer medication
  • Complete risk assessments and risk-management plans
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes and electronic patient records
  • Support patient admissions, discharges and nursing handovers
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Supervise and support junior members of staff
  • Take charge of the nursing service when required
  • Maintain high standards of care, confidentiality, safeguarding and health and safety

Essential requirements

  • Registered Nurse with current NMC registration
  • Previous experience in a similar nursing position
  • Right to work in the UK without current or future visa sponsorship
  • Own vehicle or reliable private transport due to the rural location
  • Availability to work days, nights and weekends on a rota
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A compassionate, professional and person-centred approach
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team

Experience within addiction treatment, substance misuse or psychiatric nursing would be highly beneficial.
