Hunter Mental Health are currently supporting a Community Mental Health Recovery Service in Epsom with the recruitment of a Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse for an ongoing locum contract.

This is a community-based mental health role within a Working Age Adult service, supporting service users with established mental health needs through assessment, care planning, risk management and ongoing therapeutic intervention. The role will involve working closely with the MDT, coordinating care packages, supporting CPA processes, completing clinical documentation and helping service users maintain stability and recovery in the community.

Role Details

Job Title: Band 6 Community Psychiatric Nurse
Department: CMHRS
Location: Horizon House, Epsom
Pay Rate: £25 – £27 per hour
Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00 – 17:00
Contract: ASAP start – 3 to 6 months rolling
Working Pattern: Full-time preferred, part-time may also be considered

Key Duties

  • Complete mental health assessments, risk assessments and care planning for adults within the community.
  • Coordinate and monitor person-centred care for a designated caseload.
  • Work as part of the MDT to assess need, plan interventions and respond to changes in presentation.
  • Contribute to CPA processes, safeguarding, crisis planning and risk management.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in line with Trust policy.
  • Liaise effectively with service users, carers, families, internal teams and external agencies.
  • Support recovery-focused interventions, therapeutic engagement and service user involvement.
  • Mentor, supervise and support junior staff or students where required.

Requirements

  • NMC registration as an RMN.
  • Previous community mental health experience.
  • Strong assessment, risk management and care coordination skills.
  • Able to travel to the base/site location at Horizon House, Epsom.
  • Ideally experienced with SystmOne and EMIS, although training can be provided.
  • Confident working autonomously and as part of a wider MDT.
  • Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification experience preferred, in line with the job description.
